Open Minded, Affirming Therapy

Affirming, open-hearted, compassionate therapy services for teens and adults

I utilize a blend of interventions and techniques to meet you where you are at in your healing process and towards achieving your goals. I believe the relationship is central to the healing process.

Values I bring to my clinical work:

I take a feminist, queer and anti-oppressive approach to therapeutic work. I have specialized training in a wide array of therapeutic approaches including: somatic trauma based healing approaches, mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Attachment Focused EMDR Therapy. I also incorporate solution-focused and person-centered approaches and offer longer-term insight oriented therapy as needed. We will work together to find the approach that would work best for you!

Fees and Insurance

Because my services are of the highest most ethical quality, I charge a premium fee. I am on the SHIP UC Berkeley insurance panel and also can submit a superbill for out of network reimbursement. I have a select number of lower fee slots with priority given to black, brown, indigenous, and disabled folks. If this would be of benefit to you please include that information when contacting me. I would love to hear from you!

Cancellation Policy

I offer four free session cancellations per calendar year. You are allowed to cancel anytime before the session time in order to have the fee waived. Please give me notice if possible. You will be charged the fee we agreed upon after you have hit the four session limit, unless we are able to reschedule our session within the week. Cancellations initiated by me do not count towards this limit. This is to promote consistency in treatment to achieve best results for your healing. For insurance clients, I am not able to bill insurance for missed sessions. Therefore, once you have hit the four session cancellation limit you are responsible for the full fee that the insurance reimburses and your co-pay. To provide quality care, I have a set number of clients and slots and reserve a dedicated time for you. Please let me know if you have concerns or questions about this policy.

Payment

Payment is due at time of service and clients can pay using credit card or check. Clients are responsible for any and all charges incurred in our work together. I will keep your credit card on file and it will be charged at the end of each session. I utilize a HIPAA compliant payment system in which your credit card information will be securely stored. I also accept cash at the time of service. Even if you are paying in cash, I will still request to have on file a credit or debit card.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
